Rearcross U-11's squared up to a strong Shinrone side on Saturday morning before going under on a five nil score line. Rearcross faced an uphill battle from the start and went behind after four minutes when Kyle Murphy blasted to the roof of the net. Rearcross took advantage of hesitancy in the Shinrone defence three minutes later as Eoin Sheldon's shot was blocked down in front of goal. Rearcross keeper Colm Lenihan made a fine save after advancing to narrow the angle on eight minutes. Rearcross were unlucky not to draw level when Cathal Kennedy's free kick was inches wide of the post midway through the half. Shinrone took a two nil lead to the break when DJ McLoughlin charged through on the left before finising from an acute angle. It was backs to the wall stuff in the second half and Brian Nolan did well to block down seconds after the re-start. Darragh Landy made it three nil on 26 minutes after finishing from close range. Rearcross kept battling and mustered shots from Cillian Kennedy and Stephen Rochford. Darragh Landy stretched the Offaly side's lead to four nil with a long range effort and then Cealim Murphy wrapped it up for the vistitors late on. Rearcross will be disappointed but were really no match for a physically stronger visiting side on the day.
